British artist Stephen Wilks (1964) lives and works in Berlin. Bottle River (Vessels) covered the entire exhibition floor at the Hedge House, with a flowing line of a thousand ceramic bottles. The installation recalls several associations – a river, a flood of people, and the pollution of the oceans – and contrasts the beauty of ceramics to the ubiquity of plastic bottles. In this monumental installation, Stephen Wilks evokes the balance between nature, humankind, and our environment.
This exhibition was realised in collaboration with the Bonnefanten Museum.
