Painter Klaas Kloosterboer’s versatile work continually bridges the gap between abstraction and performativity. Actions always inform his works, such as determining a place on a canvas using techniques such as cutting, throwing paint and sewing.

Kloosterboer questions both painting’s materiality and display and confronts the viewer with the processes of painting. His work is therefore not an illustration of thoughts and is often an act in itself. Kloosterboer’s work is dynamic, idiosyncratic and unambiguous.
Kloosterboer had a solo exhibition in 2020 at the Hedge House of Kasteel Wijlre estate.
