Pieter W. Postma
Diamond, Brown & Pink, 2021
Sculpture, 47 x 23 x 22 cm

Postma often creates abstract works based on his love of nature and the link to the Japanese cultural tradition of suiseki, isolating a part or object from nature and displaying it on its own pedestal. A suiseki is a small stone formed by natural elements, which is valued for its beauty in Japanese culture. Postma interprets this tradition by cutting random patterns from textiles or leather, which he then stitches together with a degree of randomness. We are very fond of Postma’s creations and the stories he tells with them. They are often surreal portrayals that take place in a kind of parallel world. Postma's incredibly vivid imagination makes the world richer and more fun.
