We were delighted to reopen after the mandatory corona lockdown. But how our hearts sank when we were hit by the severe floods three weeks later. Within hours of the Geul bursting its banks, the park and Hedge House art pavilion were deluged with water. The damage to the art pavilion is extensive, and the ‘Spirit of Kindergarten’ exhibition will not return to the Hedge House due to lengthy renovations. The estate’s park has also suffered considerable damage. As a result, the Hedge House will again be unable to receive visitors for a long time and we will miss out on much-needed public income for a year.
Thanks to all the artists and the galleries Gerhard Hofland, Fons Welters, Borzo, Torch Gallery, The Merchant House, Ron Mandos, Andriesse-Eyck, De Expeditie, Ellen de Bruijne Projects, galerie Onrust en Tegenboschvanvreden.
The online benefit auction will take place from 20 to 26 September 2021 at www.kasteelwijre.nl
